What Makes a Champion?
4-6 September 2000, University of Sydney
The 2000 Sydney Olympics offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance
for Australia to set our image for the 21st century. Accordingly,
Australia will pilot an interactive worldwide forum on "what makes
a champion" in the broadest sense, 11 days before the 2000 Games.
Here, leading authorities from diverse backgrounds will discuss
how being a champion is shaped by our genetic make-up, by our
education, by our culture, by our society and even by our ongoing
emotional interactions. Sir Roger Bannister, acclaimed neurologist
and the man who broke the 4-minute mile, will open and address
the "What Makes a Champion?" international event.
